Engineering and Technology Institute "Biotechnica" was found in 1971 as the Odessa's branch of science and production association "Agropribor" according to the order of the Minister of Agriculture of the USSR as a state scientific and industrial enterprise (OB SPA). According to the order of the State the production of the USSR from 6th of October1997, N 755 on the basis of OB SPA "Agropribor" was found by the All-Union Scientific Research, Engineering Center (AUSRC) "Biotechnica". According to President order of the UAAN N 100 from 14th of April 1992 All-Union Scientific Research, Engineering Center (AUSRC) "Biotechnica" (with zonal research and production base of biological engineering and training center "biocontrol") was renamed on the Research Centre "Biotechnica" by The Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences RC "Biotechnica" UAAN.
Direction of the Prime Minister of Ukraine N 247 of April 28, 1992 and the order of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences N 154 of 24 June 1992 RC "Biotechnica" renamed on Engineering and Technology Institute (ETI) "Biotechnica". At present time the Institute named as Engineering and Technology Institute "Biotechnica” of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine (ETI "Biotechnica" NAAS).
Currently, the Institute of Engineering and Technology "Biotechnica" is a leading scientific and scientific-industrial institution of Ukrainian Agro-industry. The Institute also serves as a focal Science and Technology Center of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine. Development institute in the field of production and use of biological agents in the cultivation of plants, HVAC equipment, refrigeration technology, storage of agricultural products are relevant and in demand.
The Institute of Engineering and Technology "Biotechnica" has been responsible for the implementation of the program "Scientific, engineering and technological principles of environmentally friendly industrial biotechnology and equipment for the production and use of biological agents in agro ecosystems plant protection" (PSR 35 "Biotechnica") since 2011. The program includes 19 scientific tasks, including 9 of fundamental research.
